Marshawn Lynch appears to have retired during the Super Bowl

Those late-season rumblings that Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch might retire are getting louder and, during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 50, Lynch sent a tweet about his future.
He shared a simple image of hanging cleats with a peace sign.

Lynch’s teammate, Richard Sherman, replied on Twitter:
Earlier Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Lynch was telling people close to him that his NFL career is indeed finished.
Teammates still attempting to change his mind, but Seahawks' RB Marshawn Lynch has told some close to him he plans to retire, per sources.

But the 2015 season was different as he struggled, appearing in only seven games and rushing for 417 yards and three touchdowns. Thomas Rawls, his backup, was far more successful and parting with Lynch would save Seattle $6.5 million against the salary cap.
Lynch, 29, ranks fourth in the NFL with 9,112 rushing yards and second with 74 rushing touchdowns since entering the league in 2007.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Lynch is set for life he if walks away because of his lifestyle.
“Marshawn Lynch has a lot of money,” Rapoport told Seattle’s “Ian and Puck Show.” “He hasn’t spent a dime of his actual playing money … ever.”
He has earned just under $50 million on the field, with about $5 million a year coming in through endorsements, according to Forbes.
